Marty Friedman

Marty Friedman is a guitarist renowned for his incomparable technique and his blending of Eastern and Western music influences. Born on December 8, 1962, in Washington D.C., Friedman took the metal world by storm with his neoclassical virtuosity. He first gained widespread attention in the 1980s with the band Cacophony, which he formed with fellow guitar virtuoso Jason Becker. After the group disbanded, Friedman's career reached new heights when he joined the legendary thrash metal band Megadeth in 1990. His tenure with Megadeth spawned some of the group's most iconic albums including 'Rust in Peace' and 'Countdown to Extinction'.

In 2000, Friedman departed from Megadeth to focus on his solo career and explore a broader range of musical styles. He moved to Japan, immersing himself in the culture and becoming a fixture on Japanese television and music. His solo works showcase a fusion of his heavy metal roots with diverse genres, creating a unique sound palette. Albums like "Tokyo Jukebox 3" reflect his evolution as an artist, with his masterful guitar work reinterpreting popular Japanese songs. Other releases, such as "One Bad M.F. Live!!" confirm his status as a dynamic live performer. Friedman's ability to adapt and excel in various musical landscapes has solidified him as an influential and respected figure in the world of guitar playing.
