Xavi Castillo is a jazz bassist from Terrassa, Barcelona, Spain, a city with a rich jazz tradition. He graduated with a Bachelor's degree focusing on jazz interpretation from the Escola Superior de Música de Catalunya (ESMUC) and spent a semester at the Koninklijk Conservatorium in The Hague. Xavi combines his passion for playing bass with music education, currently teaching at the Conservatori de Terrassa. He completed a Master's in Pedagogy for Musicians in 2020 and is actively involved in the Barcelona jazz scene, leading his own trio and co-leading other jazz ensembles. His music creatively blends jazz and classical elements, exemplified by projects like “A Musical Portrait of Joan Miró,” which features a string quartet and jazz trio to reflect the work of the Catalan artist Joan Miró through sound.
