Wim De Vries

Wim de Vries is a talented Dutch jazz drummer born on August 9, 1970, in Dieren, Netherlands. He began his musical journey playing snare drum in a marching band as a child and later studied drums at the Arnhem Conservatory starting in 1986. During his conservatory years, he formed the Marcus Schinkel Trio, with whom he recorded four albums, and was also a member of the Arnhem Jazz Trio. De Vries further honed his skills at Berklee College of Music in Boston, studying alongside pianist Johan van der Kouwe. He has toured extensively with groups like Oostenwind and JazzFactor, and even played in a European tour with the renowned Glenn Miller Orchestra. Between 1999 and 2005, he contributed to several musical theater productions in Holland before focusing on his own career.

Wim is well-known for his dynamic drumming style and impressive control, often incorporating visual twirling techniques into his performances. He formed a duo called The Drumbassadors with fellow drummer René Creemers, combining their talents to deliver clinics and concerts worldwide. Wim has shared the stage at major drummer festivals with notable musicians such as Steve Gadd, Virgil Donati, Steve Smith, and William Kennedy. His reputation as a drummer who balances technical skill with a strong visual presence makes him a respected figure in the contemporary jazz scene.
