Midtown

Midtown was a linchpin of the pop-punk scene that emerged in the late 1990s and early 2000s, a period synonymous with catchy hooks and power chords that resonated through the veins of rebellious youth. Formed in 1998 in New Brunswick, New Jersey, the group comprised lead vocalist and bassist Gabe Saporta, lead guitarist Tyler Rann, rhythm guitarist Heath Saraceno, and drummer Rob Hitt. They quickly made their mark with their debut album "Save The World, Lose The Girl" (2000) under Drive-Thru Records, a label that became a staple for the pop-punk genre.

Midtown's music was characterized by a balance of angst and melody, achieving a level of sophistication without sacrificing the raw energy that anchored their sound. Their subsequent releases, "Living Well Is The Best Revenge" (2002) and "Forget What You Know" (2004), reflected the band's growth, with the latter showcasing a departure from their pure pop-punk roots towards a more alternative rock sound. Despite critical acclaim and a devoted fan base, Midtown disbanded in 2005, leaving a legacy of influential tunes that resonated with a generation. They briefly reunited for some shows and continued to be remembered for their significant contribution to the scene, as evidenced by nostalgic releases like "We're Too Old To Write New Songs, So Here's Some Old Songs We Didn’t Write," which underlines their enduring legacy and continued relevance in the pop-punk domain.
