Andy Tielman

**Andy Tielman** was a trailblazing Dutch-Indonesian musician and frontman of The Tielman Brothers, often hailed as the godfather of Dutch rock ‘n’ roll. Born in 1936 in Surabaya, Dutch East Indies (now Indonesia), Andy grew up in a musical Indo family and brought his fiery blend of rockabilly, Hawaiian guitar flair, and Indonesian rhythms to Europe after moving to the Netherlands in 1957. With his brothers, he formed The Tielman Brothers, who became legendary for their wild live shows, acrobatic stage antics, and early adoption of electric guitars—earning them cult status as pioneers of the 1950s European rock scene.

Though the band’s heyday peaked in the ‘60s, Andy’s influence never faded. Later releases like *Back To The Roots* and *Indo Memories* celebrated his heritage, while tracks such as *21st Century Rock* proved his sound remained timeless. A charismatic performer until his passing in 2011, Andy’s legacy lives on as a bridge between cultures and a foundational force in rock history. His music—raw, rhythmic, and relentlessly energetic—still feels as alive today as it did when he first shredded his way into the spotlight.
