Sven Nyhus Kvartett

Sven Nyhus Kvartett was a Norwegian folk music ensemble led by Sven Nyhus, a renowned folk musician, composer, and professor. The group was formed in 1969, initially as a quartet, and later expanded to include more members, becoming a quintet and sextet over time. Sven Nyhus, along with accordionist Tore Løvgreen, were the core members of the ensemble. The group released several albums, including "På Dansefot med Sven Nyhus Kvartett," "Dovregubben Danser," "Trollsving og Kast," and "Trollsteget." They were known for their lively performances and contributions to Norwegian folk music, winning two Spellemannpriser for their work.

Sven Nyhus Kvartett's music often featured traditional Norwegian dances and folk tunes, blending heritage with contemporary flair. The ensemble's dynamic performances and recordings helped keep traditional Norwegian music vibrant and accessible to new generations. Over the years, the group's lineup included other talented musicians, including Sven Nyhus's daughter Åshild Breie Nyhus on the fiddle. Their legacy continues to inspire folk music enthusiasts and musicians alike.
