Kellen Smith is a singer-songwriter from Gillette, Wyoming, who is also a fifth-generation cattle rancher. He graduated from the University of Wyoming and found his musical path during his time at university, being influenced by a diverse array of artists such as Stevie Ray Vaughn, Lynyrd Skynyrd, and the String Cheese Incident. His music career was encouraged by his friend Tyler McCollum, leading to his early recordings. Kellen's music often reflects his cowboy upbringing, blending rich Western storytelling with heartfelt themes. He has released several albums, including *Rancher Blues* and his latest, *Winter’s End*, which reflects his roots and evolving style.
Kellen's most recent work, *Winter’s End*, was released on October 31st, 2024, and features a reimagining of some of his earliest songs. This album was recorded at The Zone Recording Studio in Dripping Springs, Texas, with contributions from notable musicians like Mickey Raphael and Pat Manske. His music journey is a blend of his cowboy heritage and new musical explorations, creating a unique sound that resonates with fans of storytelling-driven music.
