Katy Jara

Diana Kathia Jara Vásquez, better known as Katy Jara, is a vibrant Peruvian singer, songwriter, actress, and TV presenter born on April 6, 1985, in Trujillo, Peru. She started her musical journey at a young age singing Andean and Creole music before moving to Lima at 18 to compete on the show Super Star. Her big break came when she joined the popular Peruvian cumbia group Agua Bella, after which she launched her solo career with her band Katy Jara & Banda Mix, gaining international recognition including performances at the Festival de la Cumbia in the U.S.

Besides music, Katy has expanded her talents into acting and television hosting, participating in TV shows such as *Solamente Milagros* and hosting programs like *Domingos de fiesta* and *La voz cantante* on TV Perú. In 2022, she transitioned from tropical cumbia music to focus on Christian music, reflecting a personal shift toward her faith. Throughout her career, Katy Jara has built a strong connection with audiences through her emotive singing and relatable storytelling, making her a beloved figure in Peru’s music scene.
