Maywood
Maywood was a Dutch duo comprised of sisters Alice May and Caren Wood (their stage name being a combination of their middle names). They were super popular in the Netherlands in the early 1980s, scoring a string of hits and even representing their country in the 1990 Eurovision Song Contest with the song "Ik Wil Alles Met Je Delen." Known for their catchy melodies and close harmonies, they had a distinctly European pop sound. Think ABBA-esque but with a touch more folk influence at times.
While they achieved considerable success in their home country and some surrounding areas, international stardom remained somewhat elusive. After a period of inactivity, they made a comeback in the late 1990s and have continued to perform and release music sporadically since then, much to the delight of their dedicated fanbase. They're definitely a group worth checking out if you're into discovering some classic European pop gems.
