Glen Ricks is a renowned Jamaican-Canadian singer, songwriter, and musician celebrated for his soulful voice and contributions to reggae and R&B. Born Glen Ricketts in Kingston, Jamaica, he migrated to Canada with his family at the age of 10, settling in Toronto. Ricks began his musical career as a member of The Fabulous Flames, whom he met while they were touring Canada in 1968. Impressed by his stage presence, the group invited him to join, and they recorded the hit song "Holly Holy / Kingston Town" in 1969 for producer Clancy Eccles. After the band split in the 1970s, Ricks pursued a successful solo career in Canada, signing with CBS Records and working with notable figures like David Clayton-Thomas and Donny Hathaway.
Ricks has also spent time in soul centers like Chicago and Philadelphia, where he cut an R&B album titled "I Found A Love." In the late 1980s, he returned to Jamaica, working with prominent producers such as King Jammy and Philip "Fatis" Burrell. Despite facing challenges with substance abuse, Ricks has recently undergone rehabilitation and is now gearing up for a music comeback, recording new songs for various producers. His career spans over four decades and showcases a versatile talent that blends soul, reggae, and R&B with ease.
