Matisyahu

Matisyahu, born Matthew Paul Miller on June 30, 1979, is an American Jewish reggae singer, rapper, beatboxer, and alternative rock musician. Known for blending Orthodox Jewish themes with reggae, rock, and hip hop beatboxing sounds, Matisyahu gained widespread fame with the release of his live album "Live at Stubb's" in 2005 and the accompanying single "King Without a Crown", which broke into the modern rock Top Ten. His unique musical style and spiritual lyrics, often dealing with themes of peace and understanding, captivated a diverse audience around the globe.

In 2006, Matisyahu released his studio album "Youth" which further solidified his place in the music scene, garnering a Grammy nomination for Best Reggae Album. Over the years, he has continued to evolve both musically and personally, undergoing a notable transformation by stepping away from his strict Hasidic dress and lifestyle. Matisyahu's journey has been reflected in his music, with albums such as "Light" (2009) and "Spark Seeker" (2012) showcasing a broader sonic palate and continued exploration into new musical territory. His message of unity and compassion remains a core element throughout his work, resonating in recent releases like "Fireproof" and collaborative pieces such as "Lockdown" and "Blacklist". The artist continues to perform and record, creating a legacy that is as much about the power of music as it is about the transformative nature of his own spiritual quest.
