Kalle Kalima is a Finnish jazz saxophonist, composer, and bandleader known for his innovative and experimental approach to music. Born in Helsinki in 1973, Kalima began playing the saxophone at a young age and quickly developed a passion for jazz. He studied at the Sibelius Academy in Helsinki and later moved to New York City to further his musical education.
Kalima has released numerous albums as a leader and has collaborated with a wide range of musicians, including Greg Cohen, Max Andrzejewski, and Dave Liebman. His music is characterized by its eclectic mix of influences, from jazz to classical to folk, and his improvisational skills are highly regarded. Kalima is also a dedicated educator and has taught at the Sibelius Academy and the New School for Jazz and Contemporary Music in New York City.
