Jennifer Galloway

Jennifer Galloway is a distinguished British oboist who has held the position of principal oboe with the BBC Philharmonic since 2000. She initially joined the orchestra in 1993 as sub-principal while still a student at the Royal Northern College of Music, and has since become one of the UK's leading oboists. Beyond her principal role, she frequently appears as guest principal with other major UK orchestras and has participated in prestigious international collaborations, including performances with the World Orchestra for Peace.

As a soloist, Galloway has an impressive repertoire that includes performances of concertos by Strauss, Mozart, and Vaughan Williams with the BBC Philharmonic. She recorded Malcolm Arnold's Oboe Concerto for Chandos Records in 2001, and in 2020 she premiered Edward Gregson's Oboe Concerto, which was commissioned specifically for her by the BBC. Her work as a recording artist and soloist has established her as a significant figure in classical music, combining her principal orchestra responsibilities with an active solo career.
