Juha Kangas
Juha Kangas is a Finnish conductor and violist born in 1945 in Kaustinen, a town in the Ostrobothnian region of Finland known for its rich musical heritage. He is best known for founding the Ostrobothnian Chamber Orchestra in 1972, which he has skillfully led and developed over the decades into a highly regarded ensemble. Kangas has a deep connection to Nordic and Baltic music, having served as the artistic director of the Tallinn Chamber Orchestra in Estonia during the mid-1990s and fostering strong musical exchanges between Finland and the Baltic states. His approach to raising an orchestra has been likened to organic farming, emphasizing patience, growth, and nurturing young talent.
