Saves The Day is an American rock band that has been a prominent fixture in the emo and punk scenes since their formation in 1997 in Princeton, New Jersey. The band was initially founded under the name Sefler by lead vocalist and guitarist Chris Conley, guitarist Ted Alexander, bassist Sean McGrath, and drummer Bryan Newman. They quickly evolved from their early hardcore punk roots to a more melodic emo sound, a transformation that became evident with their first album, "Can't Slow Down," in 1998. However, it was their second album, "Through Being Cool" (1999), that significantly marked their entry into the mainstream, influencing the pop-punk and emo movement of the early 2000s.
Throughout their career, Saves The Day has experienced numerous lineup changes, with Chris Conley remaining the only constant member. This has led to a dynamic evolution in their sound across their discography, evidenced by albums like "Stay What You Are" (2001), which received critical acclaim and commercial success, and "In Reverie" (2003), showcasing the band's willingness to experiment with their sound. Over the years, Saves The Day has released a series of albums and EPs including notable works such as "Sound The Alarm" (2006), "Daybreak" (2011), and their ninth studio album, aptly titled "9" (2018), which served as a reflection on the band's history and influence within the music scene. Despite the changing landscape of rock music, Saves The Day has maintained a devoted fan base and continues to be an influential and celebrated band in the emo and punk genres.
