Ulas Özdemir

Ulaş Özdemir is a renowned Turkish musician, composer, and ethnomusicologist born in 1976 in Kahramanmaraş, Turkey. He specializes in Alevi-Bektashi music and culture, drawing inspiration from the rich tradition of Anatolian poets and musicians known as "aşıks." With a PhD in ethnomusicology from Yıldız Technical University, Özdemir has published several books and articles on the subject. He has toured extensively and collaborated with global music figures like Ali Akbar Moradi, Kayhan Kalhor, and Azam Ali. His music often features traditional instruments such as the dede sazı and bağlama. One of his notable albums is "Traces of Âşık," which explores contemporary adaptations of classic Alevi poetry and music.

Özdemir's musical career spans multiple genres and mediums, including film scores. He has composed music for films like "Uzun Hikâye" (2012) and "Benim ve Roz'un Sonbaharı" (2009), showcasing his versatility as a composer.
