K.S. Bhamrah is a legendary figure in British bhangra music. Born in India, he moved to the UK in 1979 and went on to become one of the pioneers of the British Asian music scene. Bhamrah is best known as a singer, songwriter, and lead vocalist of the iconic bhangra band Apna Sangeet. His career spans over four decades, during which he has written more than 600 songs and performed on stages around the world, including at Glastonbury Festival. One of his most notable achievements was appearing on Top of the Pops in 2003, performing alongside Panjabi MC on the hit track "Mundian To Bach Ke."
Bhamrah's contributions to bhangra music have earned him widespread recognition, including awards for best lyricist and musical director. He continues to create music, focusing on both contemporary bhangra tracks and traditional Punjabi folk songs. His recent releases, such as "Teeyan" and "Choora," demonstrate his ongoing commitment to celebrating Punjabi culture through music.
