Dick Powell was a popular American singer and actor who rose to fame in the 1930s and 1940s. Born Richard Ewing Powell in Mountain View, Arkansas, in 1904, he began his career as a singer with various orchestras before making his film debut in 1932. Powell starred in numerous musicals and romantic comedies, including "42nd Street" (1933), "Gold Diggers of 1933" (1933), and "My Man Godfrey" (1936). He was known for his smooth baritone voice and charming screen presence. Powell also had a successful career as a recording artist, releasing several hit songs, including "I Only Have Eyes for You" and "Love Is on the Air Tonight." He died in 1963 at the age of 58.
