Nuova Era is an Italian progressive rock band formed in Florence in 1985 by keyboardist and composer Walter Pini. The band's early lineup included Gianluca Lavecchi on drums, Enrico Giordani on bass, and Alex Camaiti on guitars and vocals. Their music is heavily influenced by Italian progressive rock bands of the 1970s, such as Le Orme, Banco del Mutuo Soccorso, and Balletto di Bronzo. Nuova Era's sound features elaborate compositions with a baroque touch and hard rock influences reminiscent of Deep Purple. Their discography includes albums like "L'ultimo viaggio" (1988), "Dopo l'infinito" (1989), "Io e il tempo" (1992), and "Il passo del soldato" (1995). After a period of inactivity, the band reformed and released new material, including "Return to the Castle" in 2016.
Nuova Era's recent releases, such as "20.000 Leghe sotto i mari" and "The Farewell Concert (1978-2018 40th Anniversary)," reflect their continued dedication to progressive rock. The band's current lineup includes Walter Pini on keyboards, Rudi Greco on bass, and Maurizio Marra on drums and vocals, with Alex Camaiti also contributing to their music. Nuova Era's legacy is marked by their distinctive blend of Italian progressive influences and their enduring presence in the genre.
