DakhaBrakha

DakhaBrakha is a Kyiv-based Ukrainian folk quartet that masterfully blends traditional Ukrainian folk music with elements of contemporary genres to create a unique and powerful sound. Formed in 2004 at the Kyiv Center of Contemporary Art by avant-garde theatre director Vladyslav Troitskyi, the band's name means "give/take" in old Ukrainian, which aptly reflects their adaptive musical philosophy. The multicultural influences in their music make for an eclectic mix, featuring everything from Indian, Arabic, and African traditions to the more familiar sounds of Eastern Europe.

The group is known for their visually striking performances, often donning traditional Ukrainian attire and elaborate headpieces. Their recent releases, such as "TUMAN" and "Alambari," showcase their ability to merge haunting melodies with the rhythms of global soundscapes, encapsulating an ethos of cultural amalgamation. DakhaBrakha continues to push the boundaries of folk music, earning them a dedicated following both in Ukraine and internationally.
