Manoug Parikian

Manoug Parikian was a British-Armenian violinist known for his warm, expressive style and knack for bringing both classical and modern works to life. Born in 1920, he studied at London’s Royal Academy of Music and became a respected figure in the mid-20th-century classical scene. A versatile performer, Parikian thrived in solo recitals, chamber collaborations (like his spirited take on Stravinsky’s *The Soldier’s Tale*), and orchestral leadership—even serving as the Philharmonia Orchestra’s leader for a time. His recordings, from fiery Beethoven sonatas to lesser-known gems like Berkeley’s *Trio for Violin, Horn and Piano*, showcase his curiosity and technical flair. Whether live in Aldeburgh or studio sessions, Parikian’s playing always carried a lyrical, storytelling charm. He passed away in 1987, leaving behind a legacy of recordings that still delight classical fans today.
