ClariS

ClariS is a Japanese pop music duo known for their distinctive approach to maintaining anonymity. The group was originally formed by Clara and Alice, two friends from Hokkaido who met in an after-school music club. They began their career by uploading covers of Vocaloid songs to the video-sharing platform Nico Nico Douga in 2009 under the name Alice☆Clara. ClariS gained popularity and made their major debut with the single "irony" in 2010, which was featured as the opening theme for the anime *Ore no Imouto ga Konna ni Kawaii Wake ga Nai*. Over the years, they have released numerous singles and albums, with their music often featured in anime series like *Puella Magi Madoka Magica* and *Nisemonogatari*.

In 2014, Alice left the group to focus on her studies, and Karen joined as her replacement. ClariS moved to the Sacra Music label under Sony Music Entertainment Japan in 2017. Despite their anonymity, they have performed at notable venues like the Nippon Budokan and have made appearances at anime music events. The duo is known for wearing masks during live performances, and their personas are represented by illustrations. They have occasionally revealed their faces, such as during their Pacifico Yokohama concert in 2017 and their 10th anniversary concert in 2020.
