Pia Tassinari was an Italian operatic soprano and later mezzo-soprano, noted for her rich voice and expressive performances. Born in 1903 in Modigliana, she made her debut in the 1920s and quickly built a career on Italian and international stages. Tassinari was especially admired for her roles in the Italian lyric repertoire, including operas by Verdi, Puccini, and Cilea.
She frequently performed with her husband, the renowned tenor Ferruccio Tagliavini, and together they became a beloved duo in the opera world, known for their compelling interpretations and onstage chemistry. Tassinari also left behind a significant number of recordings that continue to be appreciated by opera lovers today. Her career spanned several decades, and she remained a respected figure in the classical vocal scene until her death in 1995.
