Gordons

The Gordons were a groundbreaking noise rock trio from Christchurch, New Zealand, who blazed a trail in the early 1980s with their raw, feedback-drenched sound. Formed in 1980 by Alister Parker (guitar/vocals), John Halvorsen (bass), and Brent McLachlan (drums), their chaotic blend of punk energy, hypnotic repetition, and ear-splitting volume made them cult legends. Their self-titled debut album (1981) and the *Future Shock* EP (1982) – often reissued together as *The Gordons 1st Album + Future Shock EP* – are revered as proto-noise-rock classics, influencing everyone from Sonic Youth to The Dead C. Though they split in 1983, their legacy grew over time, and members later formed Bailter Space, keeping that signature wall-of-noise aesthetic alive. File under: LOUD, ahead of its time, and still shaking speakers today.
