Retox

Retox was a fierce and uncompromising hardcore punk band that emerged from the vibrant underground music scene of Southern California. Formed in 2011, Retox was conceived as a musical outlet for members who were already seasoned within the punk and rock communities, most notably including lead vocalist Justin Pearson, known for his work with The Locust and other experimental punk acts. The band swiftly garnered a reputation for its aggressive sonic assaults and socio-politically charged lyrics, confronting audiences with a blistering blend of punk energy and noise rock dissonance.

Throughout their career, Retox unleashed a series of relentless recordings that showcase their ability to meld raw ferocity with intricate musicianship. The albums "Ugly Animals" (2011) and "YPLL" (2013) stood out for their abrasive yet sophisticated chaos, while "Beneath California" (2015), their third full-length, turned a critical eye to their home state with unyielding intensity. The band's razor-sharp edge was further exemplified in their shorter releases, such as their "Self Titled EP" and the split EP with Narrows. "Garbageman", one of their known tracks, encapsulates their sound—an unapologetic tirade of punk vigor. Although the band announced their hiatus in 2018, Retox left behind a legacy of tumultuous live performances and recordings, capturing the very essence of what it means to be confrontational and uncompromising in punk music.
