Abrasive Wheels

Abrasive Wheels are a punk rock band hailing from Leeds, England, who formed in the late 1970s. They became one of the pioneering bands in the UK82 punk scene, their name conjuring images of raw energy and uncompromising musical attitude. The band took their moniker from the slang term for a sidewalk skateboarder—a nod to their street-level roots and rebellious spirit. During their early years, they became notorious for their high-energy music and politically charged lyrics.

Though they enjoyed significant underground success and built a loyal following with singles such as ‘Vicious Circle’ and ‘Army Song’, Abrasive Wheels truly cemented their place in punk history with their seminal album "When the Punks Go Marching In" released in 1982. The album became a classic of the era, capturing the rawness and velocity that defined UK82 punk. They continued to churn out music that resonated with the punk community before disbanding. However, the group saw a resurgence with later releases like "Skum" and retrospective compilations such as "The Riot City Years: 1981-1982", reminding old and new fans alike of their influential presence in the punk rock scene. With "Stay Out All Night" and their more recent endeavors, Abrasive Wheels show they still hold the flame for the fierce, indomitable spirit that punk rock embodies.
