Mestre Casquinha

Mestre Casquinha, whose real name is Rodrigo Gonçalves, is a Brazilian capoeira master and musician. Born in a small town in São Paulo state, he began his capoeira journey in 1987 at the age of seven in Guaratinguetá. Despite financial challenges growing up, Casquinha's passion for capoeira persevered, with his mother even sewing cloth bags to make pants for his training.

With a career spanning over three decades, Mestre Casquinha has not only mastered the art of capoeira but has also made a name for himself in the music world. He has released several albums, including "Agradeco a Capoeira" and "Filho MEU," showcasing his musical talents alongside his capoeira expertise. Casquinha's dedication to capoeira has taken him beyond Brazil, with recent appearances including a visit to Cyprus for the Ponto de Cultura 2024 event.
