Guido Morini

Guido Morini is an Italian pianist, organist, harpsichordist, musicologist, and composer born in Milan in 1959. He studied organ, harpsichord, and composition, and developed a deep expertise in basso continuo and improvisation, making him one of Europe’s most respected continuo players. In 1984, he co-founded the early Baroque ensemble Accordone with singer Marco Beasley, with whom he explores and reinterprets Italian Baroque music. Besides performing, Morini is an accomplished composer, creating works ranging from instrumental pieces to operas, often blending historical styles with contemporary creativity. Some of his notable compositions include the opera *Vivifice Spiritus Vitae Vis* and collaborative works like *Una Odissea* and *Una Iliade* with Beasley and other ensembles.

Morini’s music often draws on early music traditions while infusing his own imaginative voice, making him a unique figure who bridges the old and new worlds of classical music. With Accordone and other collaborators, he has released numerous recordings that celebrate the rich musical heritage of the Italian Baroque and Renaissance eras, as well as his modern compositions inspired by these traditions. His work reflects a blend of musicological insight and expressive performance, championing the art of historical improvisation and vocal-instrumental dialogue.
