Drukwerk

Drukwerk is an iconic Dutch pop band, known for their socially-engaged lyrics and catchy pop melodies, which gained significant popularity during the early 1980s. The group was founded in Amsterdam in 1978 by lead singer Harry Slinger, guitarist Ton Coster, keyboardist Joop May, bassist Jurriaan Dekker, and drummer Hans Witteveen. They initially started as a theater group, but their music quickly catapulted them to fame within the local music scene. Their most famous hit "Je Loog Tegen Mij" (You Lied to Me) became a national sensation, reflecting the band's ability to connect with the working-class and everyday Dutch people through songs that narrated the struggles and joys of ordinary life.

Throughout the years, Drukwerk remained influential with releases like "Singles & B-kanten (1979-1986)", compiling their work from the late '70s through the mid-'80s. Albums such as "Drukwerk" and "Tweede Druk" further etched their name into the Netherland's pop culture. While their music evolved, the band's essence of providing a voice for the common man never wavered. Their live performances, captured in albums like "Live" and "Hee Amsterdam - Drukwerk Live In Het Concertgebouw", showcase the dynamic and intimate relationship they established with their audience, cementing their legacy in the Dutch music history. Even as their latest releases reflect on the entirety of their career and contributions to the Dutch pop panorama, Drukwerk remains a beloved emblem of authenticity and societal reflection within the realm of music.
