Pierre-André Valade

Pierre-André Valade is a renowned French conductor, born in 1959 in Corrèze, France. He is celebrated for his interpretations of contemporary music, particularly works from the 20th and 21st centuries. Valade co-founded the Paris-based Ensemble Court-Circuit in 1991 and served as its Music Director for 16 years. He has also held positions as Principal Conductor of the Athelas Sinfonietta Copenhagen and Principal Guest Conductor of the Ensemble Orchestral Contemporain in Lyon. Since 2014, he has been Conductor-in-Residence at the Meitar Ensemble in Tel-Aviv. Valade is admired for his performances of works by composers like Gérard Grisey, Tristan Murail, and Helmut Lachenmann, and he has conducted numerous prominent orchestras worldwide, including the BBC Symphony, Philharmonia, and Tokyo Philharmonic.

Valade's discography includes critically acclaimed recordings such as Grisey's *Les Espaces Acoustiques*, which won the *Diapason d'Or de l'année 1999* and the *Grand Prix de l'Académie Charles Cros*. He has also recorded works by Hugues Dufourt and Harrison Birtwistle. His recent performances and recordings reflect his ongoing commitment to contemporary music, with releases like *Murail: Le partage des eaux, Contes cruels & Sillages* showcasing his nuanced direction.
