Spring King was a dynamic British post-punk band known for their fervent energy and rousing garage rock anthems. Originally a solo project initiated by drummer and vocalist Tarek Musa in Manchester in 2012, the act eventually blossomed into a full-fledged band with the addition of Pete Darlington on guitar, James Green on bass, and Andy Morton on the guitar. Their DIY ethos and engaging live performances quickly garnered a dedicated following.
The band's debut album "Tell Me If You Like To," released in 2016, was a rambunctious burst onto the music scene, featuring boisterous tracks that earned them considerable acclaim and a dedicated fanbase. Subsequent releases such as "Demons" and "City" continued to showcase their capacity for guttural guitar riffs and catchy melodies, while "A Better Life," one of their major releases, suggested a maturation of their sound and a broadening of their thematic scope. Though often associated with the indie rock surge of the mid-2010s, Spring King set themselves apart with their spirited drum-led singing and an irrepressible zest that permeated their live shows. The band's journey, however, came to an unexpected halt when they announced their split in late 2018, leaving behind a tight-knit discography that continues to invigorate the UK's alternative music landscape.
