Nyrst

Nyrst is a fierce Icelandic black metal crew hailing from the frostbitten landscapes of Reykjavík, formed in 2017. The band consists of members Egill (vocals/guitar), Óðinn (guitar), Magni (bass), and Hjálmar (drums), channeling Iceland’s volcanic energy and folklore into their icy sonic assaults. Known for their atmospheric yet razor-sharp sound, they weave themes of Norse mythology, existential dread, and their homeland’s stark beauty into frostbitten tremolo riffs and blasting percussion.

Since their formation, Nyrst has carved a niche with releases like their 2020 debut album *Orsök* and 2023’s critically praised *Nástirni*, both via Dark Essence Records. Tracks like *Völd* and *Hrímvíti* showcase their knack for balancing raw aggression with haunting melodic textures, earning them a dedicated following in the Scandinavian extreme metal underground.
