Jan Łukaszewski is a renowned Polish conductor and choral music specialist. He has been the conductor, artistic director, and director general of the Polski Chór Kameralny (Polish Chamber Choir), also known as Schola Cantorum Gedanensis, since 1983. Under his direction, the choir has given almost 700 premieres and made numerous recordings for radio, television, and CDs. Jan Łukaszewski is highly regarded for his ability to interpret complex contemporary works and has worked with prominent composers such as Krzysztof Penderecki and Wojciech Kilar. He has also conducted several thousand concerts across Europe, the U.S., Canada, China, and Japan, and has received prestigious awards, including the Gloria Artis Silver Medal and the Golden Fryderyk for outstanding artistic achievements.
Jan Łukaszewski is also an accomplished teacher, offering postgraduate conducting courses at the Bydgoszcz Academy of Music and holding masterclasses worldwide. His artistic interests span romantic and contemporary music, and he has been involved in various international choral competitions as a juror. Additionally, he initiated the 'Mozartiana' International Mozart Festival in 2006 and serves as its artistic director. His work with the Pueri Cantores Olivenses Boys’ and Men’s Choir, which he co-directs with his wife, further highlights his dedication to fostering musical talent across generations.
