The Flesh Eaters

The Flesh Eaters are a legendary punk rock band from Los Angeles, formed in 1977 and fronted by poet and vocalist Chris D. Known for their gritty blend of punk, rockabilly, and blues, the band's sound is as raw and intense as their name suggests. They quickly became a staple of the early L.A. punk scene, often sharing stages with fellow underground acts like X and The Blasters. Over the years, The Flesh Eaters' rotating lineup has included some of the most respected musicians in the scene, including Dave Alvin, John Doe, and DJ Bonebrake.

The group is best known for their 1981 cult classic album A Minute to Pray, A Second to Die, which features a supergroup lineup and combines noir lyrics with searing instrumentation. After a number of breaks and regroupings, The Flesh Eaters reunited with their '81 lineup for the 2019 album I Used to Be Pretty, which was met with critical acclaim from both longtime fans and new listeners. Their music continues to straddle the line between visceral punk energy and haunted, cinematic storytelling.
