Antônio Carlos Gomes
Antônio Carlos Gomes was a Brazilian composer born in 1836. He is best known for his operas, including "Il Guarany" and "Lo Schiavo." Gomes' music is characterized by its lush melodies and dramatic orchestration. He was a pioneer of Brazilian opera and helped to establish a national identity in Brazilian music. Gomes died in 1896 at the age of 59.
