Rudolf Rokl

Rudolf Rokl was a Czech pianist, composer, and arranger, born on December 16, 1941, in Rychnov nad Kněžnou, then part of Czechoslovakia. He began playing piano at the age of four and made his first studio recordings after winning a competition in Ostrava in 1948. Rokl studied classical music and composition at the conservatory from 1955. He was an active figure in the jazz scene, playing with various ensembles and collaborating with prominent artists like Karel Gott. Notably, in 1966, he won an international jazz competition in Vienna. Rokl was also involved with several notable Czech musicians and orchestras, contributing to both jazz and classical music. He passed away on September 23, 1997, in Prague.

Some of his notable works include compilations like "20× Rudolf Rokl" and "Perly," which highlight his contributions to Czech music. Rokl's legacy is marked by his versatility and influence in both jazz and classical music circles, reflecting his dedication to the arts.
