Matthias Lucht

Matthias Lucht is a versatile German countertenor known for his contributions to early music and classical performances. He initially began his musical journey by studying Viola at the University of Music in Mannheim, later transitioning to vocal studies with esteemed mentors like Gerd Türk. His vocal training continued at the Conservatorium van Amsterdam with Howard Crook and Udo Reinemann, and he refined his early music skills at the Schola Cantorum Basiliensis under Andreas Scholl.

Lucht is recognized for collaborating with prominent ensembles such as the Balthasar Neumann Chor, Cantus Cölln, and the RIAS Kammerchor, often performing under notable conductors like Thomas Hengelbrock and René Jacobs. In addition to his ensemble work, he has appeared as a soloist in various performances, including staged roles like the Voice of Apollo in Britten's *Death in Venice*. Recent projects include a CD release of Monteverdi's *Venetian Vespers* and a forthcoming CD featuring solos by Isabella Leonarda.
