Giovanni Imparato is a renowned Italian percussionist, singer, dancer, and performer born on November 25, 1961, in Naples, Italy. He began his musical journey by studying percussion at his local conservatory and later specialized in Afro-Cuban rhythms and instruments under the guidance of masters like Lazaro Ros and Justo Pelladito in Cuba. Imparato also studied in New York with John Amira and in Senegal with Sing Sing Faye. His diverse musical interests span genres such as Salsa, Jazz, Funk, and Ethnic music, leading him to collaborate with a wide range of international artists including Ray Charles, Paco de Lucia, and Andrea Bocelli.
Giovanni Imparato has released several albums, including *Yoruba*, *Sensi*, *Kuba Sound System Proyecto*, and *Bomba Cuba*. He is a leading expert in Afro-Cuban music, culture, and religion, holding initiations as a Babalawo, Santero, and Omoalàña priest. Imparato teaches Afro-Cuban performance in Italy and is involved in various musical projects, including Renzo Arbore's Orchestra Italiana and his own project TAMMUMBA. He has won notable awards such as the Carosone Award and Best Percussionist in 2010.
