Michael Brandstätter

Michael Brandstätter is an Austrian conductor who honed his craft studying conducting and composition right in his hometown of Graz, learning from heavyweights like Wolfgang Bozic, Arturo Tamayo, Beat Furrer, Georg Friedrich Haas, and Bernhard Lang. He took his skills to St. Petersburg in 1997 for more training with Ilya Musin and Alexander Pollychuk, then kicked off his career at Graz Opera, building a killer repertoire across operas, operettas, and musicals as both conductor and solo repetiteur.

From 2007, he stepped up as principal conductor at Stadttheater Klagenfurt, leading hits like *Ariadne auf Naxos*, *Tosca*, *Boris Godunov*, and the world premiere of Herbert Willis' revised *Schlafes Bruder*. Since the 2012/2013 season, he's been Principal Conductor and Deputy Principal Conductor at Munich's Staatstheater am Gärtnerplatz, dazzling audiences with fun productions like *Im weißen Rössl*, *Wiener Blut*, *Die Entführung aus dem Serail*, and *Anything Goes*—perfect for his love of musical theater from all eras.
