Ketama

Ketama is a renowned flamenco group from Spain, known for their unique blend of flamenco with other musical genres such as jazz, pop, and Afro-Latin rhythms. The band was formed in the early 1980s by members of the Carmona family, with guitarist Juan Carmona being a prominent figure in the group. The name "Ketama" itself has become synonymous with the innovative movement within flamenco known as "nuevo flamenco," which pushed the traditional boundaries of the genre.

Over the years, the group has released numerous albums that showcase their evolution and mastery of fusion music. Among their more recent works is "De Akí A Ketama," which received an Edición Especial Remasterizada in 2019, breathing new life into their classic sounds. "Songhai, Vol. 2" is another significant project that blends the intricate art of flamenco with the rich musical traditions of Mali, exemplifying their global appeal and cross-cultural experimentation. Ketama has not only contributed to the modernization of flamenco but has also played a pivotal role in bringing this distinctly Spanish music to a worldwide audience, integrating diverse influences while maintaining the soulful core of the tradition.
