Ásta Fanney Sigurðardóttir is an Icelandic poet, visual artist, and musician based in Reykjavík, known for blending poetry, music, and visual art in innovative ways. She studied fine art at the Iceland University of the Arts and has been a key figure in Iceland’s contemporary arts scene, co-founding the artist-led gallery Kunstschlager and being a member of the electro-pop trio aYia. Ásta’s debut poetry collection *Eilífðarnón* was published in 2019, and she has won prestigious awards like the Ljóðstafur Jóns úr Vör poetry prize. Her music includes folk and experimental styles, with releases such as *Sykurbað* earning her multiple accolades including Icelandic Music Awards’ Folk Album of the Year. Ásta’s work is known for its poetic storytelling, emotional depth, and her ability to creatively merge different art forms.
She also performs as part of the Icelandic duo Ása & Ásta, where her accordion playing helps revive Iceland’s tango tradition in a contemporary style.
