Marion Frère

Marion Frère is a French cellist and composer who has established herself as a versatile performer across classical, chamber music, and experimental electroacoustic genres. After earning two master's degrees in cello and chamber music, she entered an artist diploma program at the École Normale de Musique de Paris in 2023 under the instruction of Henri Demarquette. As a soloist, she has performed classical concertos including works by Vivaldi, Haydn, and Dvořák with orchestral accompaniment, and she spent time as an orchestra musician with the Sinfonietta of Lausanne from 2018 to 2019.

Beyond her solo career, Marion has collaborated extensively with other musicians and formed the Quatuor Gabriële in 2020, a string quartet that won first prize at the Bellan competition and multiple other awards. She regularly performs cello and piano sonatas with pianist Théo Penven and explores electroacoustic music through the duo "Mar'&Balt'" with musician Balthazar Naturel, blending her cello with electronic instruments in a project they call "cellectro". Marion has also taught cello and chamber music at several conservatories in France and Switzerland and frequently appears at music festivals alongside renowned artists. Her recent album *Originelles*, released in January 2026, showcases her interpretation of works by women composers spanning centuries, from medieval composer Hildegard von Bingen to 20th-century figures like Rita Strohl and Marthe Bracquemond.
