Chixdiggit!

Chixdiggit! is an enduring staple of the Canadian pop-punk scene, known for their catchy melodies, rapid-fire pacing, and witty lyrics that often reflect on youth and romance with irreverent humor. Formed in Calgary, Alberta in 1991, the band originally started as a way for friends to spend their spare time, but it wasn't long before Chixdiggit! carved a niche for themselves with their high-energy live shows and relatable songs, drawing in an enthusiastic fan base. The founding lineup consisted of K.J. Jansen on vocals and guitar, Mark O'Flaherty on guitar, Mike Eggermont on bass, and Jason Hirsch on drums.

Through decades of punk rock, Chixdiggit! has maintained a consistent presence, despite the usual changing tides of the music industry and intermittent breaks between recordings. They self-titled their debut release in 1996, which was followed by a string of successful albums that solidified their standing in the punk community. With titles like "Born on the First of July" (1998) and "From Scene to Shining Scene" (2000), Chixdiggit! ensured their music remained fresh, dynamic, and undeniably fun. "Pink Razors" released in 2005, showcased the band further refining their craft with even tighter musicianship and infectious hooks. After a seven-year hiatus, they returned with the energetically concise "Safeways Here We Come" EP in 2011, and delightfully reasserted their position in punk rock. In 2012, they honored their fans with "Double Diggits!", which featured remastered versions of two of their earlier albums, with bonus tracks — a testament to their lasting appeal and the loyalty of their audience. Even with a career spanning over three decades, Chixdiggit! remains a beloved act for those who cherish the upbeat, spirited essence of pop-punk.
