Kamehameha Schools Children's Chorus

The Kamehameha Schools Children's Chorus is a renowned ensemble known for its powerful and emotive performances, particularly in the realm of Hawaiian music. Based in Honolulu, Hawaii, the chorus has been a part of the rich musical heritage of Kamehameha Schools, which have a long-standing tradition of music education dating back over a century. The chorus consists of approximately 100 students aged 9 to 12, though this number is reduced to about 40 for recording purposes, ensuring only the most expressive vocals are captured. They gained widespread recognition for their contributions to the soundtrack of Disney's "Lilo & Stitch," notably for songs like "He Mele No Lilo" and "Hawaiian Roller Coaster Ride."

More recently, the chorus has continued to highlight Hawaiian culture through their music, with releases such as "Ua Ola I Loko I Ke Aloha" and "Na Pono Hawaii," which emphasize traditional values and virtues. Their performances not only entertain but also serve as a cultural bridge, perpetuating the Hawaiian tradition of mele and its role in passing down knowledge and values. Under the direction of Lynell K. Bright since 1989, the chorus has won awards, including a Nā Hōkū Hanohano award, and continues to inspire both locally and internationally with their harmonious renditions of Hawaiian classics and original compositions.
