Heinali

Heinali is the stage name of Oleh Shpudeiko, a Ukrainian electronic music composer and sound artist. He specializes in electronic music and modular synthesis, drawing inspiration from early music and medieval polyphony. Heinali gained wider recognition with his 2020 album "Madrigals," which featured improvisations on period instruments over polyphonic textures generated by modular synthesizers. His work often explores the intersection of historical musical forms and contemporary electronic techniques.

In 2023, Heinali released "Kyiv Eternal," an album paying tribute to his home city of Kyiv during the Russian invasion of Ukraine. The album combines pre-war field recordings of the city with ambient loops from Shpudeiko's archives. Heinali has also composed for video games, including the award-winning soundtrack for "BOUND" by Sony Interactive Entertainment.
