Years & Years is a British musical project, originally formed as a band in London in 2010. It began as a trio consisting of lead vocalist and keyboardist Olly Alexander, bassist Mikey Goldsworthy, and synth player/keyboardist Emre Türkmen. Years & Years first gained popularity with their 2015 debut album "Communion," which included the hit single "King." The track achieved international success and topped the UK Singles Chart. Their sound is characterized by its blend of synth-pop, electronic, and indie pop influences, showcasing emotive lyrical content often centered around love, sexuality, and identity, largely drawn from Alexander's own experiences.
In March 2021, Years & Years was reconfigured as a solo project for Olly Alexander after Goldsworthy and Türkmen stepped back from being active members. This evolution marked a new chapter for Years & Years, with Alexander taking full creative control. Despite the change in dynamic, the project's sonic essence remained intact, as evidenced by recent releases which maintain the signature euphoric beats and infectious melodies that fans have come to love. Songs like "100% Pure Love" and "American Boy" add to Alexander's repertoire of dance-inspiring tracks, while a range of remixes for the single "Hallucination," including works by Sixten, Georgia, Drop G, Navos, and Luude, show the adaptability of Years & Years' music in the ever-shifting landscape of electronic pop. With Olly Alexander at the helm, Years & Years continues to be a staple in the international pop scene, known for its anthemic tunes and the honest, heartfelt storytelling that Alexander brings to the stage and studio.
