Galliano

Galliano was a pioneering force in the early 1990s acid jazz scene, emerging from London with a distinctive blend of jazz, funk, hip-hop, and soul. The collective was founded by Rob Gallagher, who was also the group's lead vocalist, under the Talkin' Loud label. Their ideology was firmly rooted in promoting musical eclecticismand they stood out for their live instrumentation and socially conscious lyrics, narrating the complexities of contemporary urban life.

Their debut album, "In Pursuit Of The 13th Note," released in 1991, encapsulated their experimental approach and philosophical outlook, setting the stage for their subsequent contributions to the genre. This was followed by "A Joyful Noise Unto The Creator" in 1992, which further developed their unique sound and showcased their ability to weave disparate musical traditions into a coherent and soul-stirring tapestry. The 1994 album "The Plot Thickens" built upon their reputation, blending articulate, poetic narratives with imaginative soundscapes and cementing their position in the UK's vibrant acid jazz movement. Despite being short-lived, Galliano's innovative sound and ethos have left a lasting impact on the genre.
