Soriba Kouyaté

Soriba Kouyaté was a renowned Senegalese kora player born on December 23, 1963, in Dakar, Senegal. He was the son of kora player Mamadou Kouyaté, which deeply influenced his musical journey. Soriba Kouyaté was celebrated for blending traditional sounds with modern influences, making him a standout figure in the world music scene. He collaborated with numerous world-famous artists, including Youssou N'Dour, Salif Keita, Peter Gabriel, and Dizzy Gillespie, among others. His discography includes notable albums such as *Djigui* (1995), *Kanakassi* (1999), *Bamana* (2001), and *Live in Montreux* (2003).

Soriba Kouyaté's innovative style and virtuosic improvisation skills earned him recognition as one of the leading kora players of his time. Unfortunately, he passed away on October 13, 2010, at the age of 46. Despite his untimely death, his musical legacy continues to inspire and influence musicians today.
