Reality Check was an alternative rock band that formed in the mid-1990s with the support of Michael Tait from DC Talk. The band originally consisted of three members: Chris Blaney, Nathan Barlowe, and Rod Shuler, but it eventually grew to eight members. Reality Check released an independent album called *Soulfood*, which had a late 1980s hip-hop sound, featuring samples from artists like the Beastie Boys and House of Pain. They later signed with Star Song Communications and released a self-titled album in 1997. This album included collaborations with Michael Tait and had a sound reminiscent of PFR and DC Talk. The band disbanded in 1998. Two of its members, Nathan Barlowe and Jonny MacIntosh, went on to help form the band Luna Halo. Reality Check won several awards during their active years, including the Academy of Gospel Music Arts' Spotlight '96 Best Artist and two New Talent Showcase Awards at Atlantafest.
