Ginger Baker was an English drummer best known for his work with the rock band Cream. He was born in Lewisham, London, on August 19, 1939. Baker began playing drums at a young age and quickly developed a reputation as a talented musician. He joined Cream in 1966, along with guitarist Eric Clapton and bassist Jack Bruce. Cream quickly became one of the most popular bands in the world, and Baker's drumming was a major part of their sound. After Cream disbanded in 1968, Baker went on to form several other bands, including Ginger Baker's Air Force and BBM. He also worked as a session musician, playing on albums by artists such as The Rolling Stones, Paul McCartney, and George Harrison. Baker died on October 6, 2019, at the age of 80.
